Travelogue 1 : Sohna, Gurgaon, India

Sohana, Gurgaon, Haryana, India

Sohna - Wikipedia

It hardly takes 2 hours to reach Sohna from New Delhi on car.

In the month of December, from Gurgaon to Sohna, there are umpteen mustard fields on the way. For someone who hasn’t seen the mustard fields before, it reminds the scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Perfect for snaps. The yellow is awesome.

No doubt why in winters people often have Sarson da Saag and Makki di roti. It really blends so well to satisfy your taste buds.

There are many resorts on the way. One can look for a variety of fun activities. We chose paragliding. What we did miss was to check the wind. If its way too breezy, the glider can neither stay for long in the air nor does it fly at a higher altitude.

I was enthralled to see the small box like fields – a serene feel with gush of cold air on my face.

For paragliding, the weight has to be > 20 kg. Goggles are must. Warm clothes and shoes would be good to go. The best timing is winter of course. One can easily take selfies and record video while gliding.

Relished the season's last oranges after an exhilarating ride.

There is an old shiva temple in Sohna. It has a hot spring where the hot water keeps flowing 24*7. Many people take bath there regularly. People claim that it has medicinal cure for any skin disease. The temple is surrounded my houses. Many of them date a century back.

From Sohna’s bus stop there is a way to Damdama Lake (Damdama Lake - Wikipedia). It’s a picnic spot with few games, boating and camel ride. One can also stay at the hotel and enjoy a retreat. Make sure to fuel your vehicle appropriately as there are almost no fuel stations near that place.

It certainly makes good place for a weekend get out.
